Maintenance and Development of California Inspired Garden
Weeding and transplanting in this flowing garden inspired by the clients' time on the West Coast.
This flowing grassy and shrubby garden was designed and built by Barbara Samitier a couple of years ago. The main grasses include Anemanthele, Stipa tenuissima, Panicum and Calamagrostis Karl Foerster. They are interspersed with perennials and shrubs including Salvia Amistad, Myrtus communis, Mahonia Soft Caress and a feature bed of Euphorbia Wulfenii.
There were a lot of creeping weeds to extract, last years dead grass stens to remove then I divided and transplanted some irises, Crocosmia, and some grass clumps to fill a few gaps.
An area in the far less of the garden was planted with ferns and Epimediums which are shade and damp loving – in a hot dry space. I have moved some hemerocallis and clumps of Stipa and anemanthele, and have suggested some perennials to fill the space, following the look of the overall scheme.
